First stop-New York City
We started our trip by taking the Amtrak from Syracuse to New York Penn Station. This was Josie's first train ride and she enjoyed it. I decided to try to score a good deal on our hotel and, after tons of research and watching prices, I waited until the last minute (two hours before arriving) and booked an awesome room at a great price with the app "Tonight". We stayed in NYC for 3 nights and visited the New York Historical Society, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Byrant Park, Chinatown, Little Italy, and Time Square.

One of the highlights of our NYC stay was a visit to Discovery Time Square to view The Art of the Brick. Both of the girls are Lego crazy and were in awe of Nathan Sawaya’s work.

Coast to Coast
When we went to NYC, I wasn't sure where we were headed next. I was open to any place with sun and the girls agreed. We were considering Vegas, with more for the kids then you'd think, but the weather was still chilly and our flight options were limited. The warmest city we could find with seats on the flight there, happened to be a 45 minute drive from my hometown and family.

Ontario CA
The pool and hot tub were the best things about our hotel. Well, that and its close proximity to In N Out Burger. We were there for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the break from winter. We also enjoyed being able to see our California family and friends for a few days.

To the frozen north
We made plans to spend a few days in Minnesota with friends. We had a great time, even when got stuck in the great polar vortex of '14. One of the highlights of our time here was visiting the Sky Zone where we jumped around in a huge room full of trampolines.

Our adventurous journey home
After days of airplane and train cancellations, we bought a train ticket from St. Paul to Syracuse via Chicago. As we were blissfully settling in to the train, looking forward to the journey home, we learned that our connecting train cancelled and we would be stranded in Chicago where we've never been and know no one. Of course, we looked at the bright side-More hotel beds to jump on.

After an uneventful flight to Newark and a several hour train delay, we got cozy on our first trip in a sleeper car. We had a blast converting the tiny room for eating and again for sleeping and I introduced them to the classic film, "The Mighty Ducks." After the movie and a 2 hour nap, we arrived in Syracuse. We were pretty happy when the car started right up even after sitting in the crazy cold for weeks. With a little coffee and loud music to keep me awake, we arrived home about an hour later. There's nothing quite like crawling into your own bed after an adventure.
